Rooibult is a Vaal Dam fishing spot on the eastern side of the dam. Also known as Erasmus/Rooiwalle, it’s another popular spot and many carp fishing competitions are held there.
Like a lot of Vaal River locations, it also has a thriving population of yellowfish (with the occasional largemouth) and mudfish but we have also seen photos of huge barbel and grass carp.
- mostly camping but they do have a fixed caravan for hire
- sweeter (pink sweets, almond) floats during the day
- garlic and curry floats at night
- chicken blood and liver for barbel
